Experience - Activities

  • Pitsa Spyridaki performed in numerous public concerts and broadcast programmes for the Cyprus Radio and Television.
  • In 1996 the Hellenic School of Music, of which she was the Administrator, was granted the INTERNATIONAL GRAND PRIX LEADER IN PRESTIGE AND QUALITY from the magazine "Actualidad".
  • She has taught the piano successfully for more than 30 years.
  • More than 70 of her students have been awarded diplomas of the Hellenic School of Music, the Conservatoire Hellenic in Greece, and the Royal Schools of Music.

Many of her students entered Universities or Music Schools abroad to study Music:

  • Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and
  • Drama, University of Royal Holloway, University of Norwich, Kings' College London, Salzburg Mozarteum -Austria, Ecole Normale - France, Indiana University - U.S.A. Boston University - U.S.A. etc.
  • Also many of her students won prizes in piano competitions and many were offered music scholarships and represented Cyprus in other countries

Plotinos Micromatis (1981, CyBC Competition; Represented Cyprus at EBU. Plotinos

Micromatis (1987, 1st prize – Prix Ravel competion, org. By the Frenche Cultural cenre).  Juliette Demetriadou (1987, 13rd  place at the Concertino Prague Music Competition). Juliette Demetriadou and Harinos Mikromatis (1987, 1st prize – The 17th Panhellenic Music Competition "Kate Papaioannou"'). Plotinos Mikromatis (1988, 1st prize, Cy BC competition; represented Cyprus in the European Competition for Young Musicians  in Holland). Alvinos Mikromatis (1992, 1st prize - Competition for the Cyprus State Youth Orchestra, org. by the Ministry of Education and Culture). Victoria and Eleni Mavromoustaki (1995, 1st prize in Category B - International Four Hand Piano Competition org. by the European Piano Teachers' Association "EPTA" in Belgium. Also a medal from the city of Antwerp, for the best performance of a compulsory piece, in all categories). Eleni Mavromoustaki and Tassos Papastylianou (1996, 1st and 3rd prize – First Annual Pancyprian Piano Competition "Evangelia Tjarii" in category B). Tassos PapastyIianou represented Cyprus in the European Competition for Young Musicians in Vienna after he won the Cyprus CyBC Competition for Young musicians (1998). Victoria Mavromoustaki represented Cyprus at the 8th Steinway International Festival  in Hamburg (1998). Natasa Tirimos (2001, 1st Prize in Category B – Pancyprian Piano Competition organised by "EPTA Cyprus". Also, the special prize for the best performance of the compulsory piece. Natasa Tirimos (2002, 1st prize, 7th Pancyprian Piano Competition "Evangelia Tjarii" in category B). Natasa Tirimos represented Cyprus at the 10th Steinway International Festival in Hamburg (2002). Lampis Pavlou represented Cyprus at the 12tth Steinway International Festival in Hamburg (2006). Lampis Pavlou (2006, 2nd prize – Pancyprian –Panhellenic Competition "FILONAS", Athens , in category A). Anna  Pavlou (2006, 3rd prize – Pancyprian –Panhellenic Competition "FILONAS", Athens , in category B).

Scholarships: Mary Christoforou (/985, Four Year Schohirship in Fine Arts- by the French Government). Juliette Demetriadou (1990, Four Year Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music – by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Mikela Papamichael (1992) Four Year Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music –by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). Tassos Papastylianou (1997, Two Thirds of a Four Year Scholarship granted by the Royal College of Music). Victoria Mavromoustaki (1999, Summer Seminar in Apple Hills in USA). Victoria Mavromoustaki (1999, Two Year Scholarship to Purcell School, England).Anna Trillidou (2005, , Summer Seminar in Apple Hills in USA ).

She has organized seminars and piano master-classes on piano performing.

Her students have taken part in seminars and piano master-classes (organized by the

Ministry of Education and Culture, the EPTA Organization, French Cultural Services in Cyprus, The British Council) and were taught by Martino Tirimo, Ruth Harte, Kendal Taylor, Carola Grindea, Nadia Lasserson and others.

She has been a member of the Jury for the examinations of the Piano Diplomas of the Conservatoire Hellenique in Greece.

She was an examiner and a registered teacher of the Conservatoire Hellenique of Greece.

She was the President of the Music Schools Organization from its establishment until 2001. Secretary of the Cyprus National Music Committee (the Cyprus Centre) from 1998 until January 2003.. She was the Vice President of E.P.T.A. (European Piano Teachers' Association) of Cyprus from its establishment in 1994 until 2004.
